You've heard me talk about my son, Austin, who was baptized recently. I can't say enough how much his transformation has blown me and my wife away. Here's the latest thing that has been so cool: the 8-year old son is inspiring mom and dad to get more serious and passionate about Jesus! How wild is that??? Last week, seeing him take his bible and devotional book out on the porch to spend time with God was incredibly powerful.
What did I ever do to be blessed with such an amazing child? And, here's the kicker, there's three more! Can't wait to see what God does through them!!!
A few years ago a good friend of mine unknowingly created a nickname for me that has stuck for quite a while. We were in a conversation and he was telling a story that involved my name, but he didn't quite get it right. Before I knew it, my last name had suddenly changed to "Bradley". I couldn't let this go, so I jokingly told him if he's going to butcher my last name, he might as well do the same to my first and call me "Kelvin". A homemade t-followed shortly after. Ever since, the name Kelvin Bradley has followed me as a constant reminder of the name butchering that went on that day. If I could remember the exact date, I'd almost be tempted to declare that day a holiday...the official Kelvin Bradley Day. Oh well, it may not reach legendary status, but it does make appearances every now and then. And some may ask the question: Who is Kelvin Bradley?
Some people have just flat out cool ideas. Enter Firefox and their Download Day 2008. Their goal is to set the Guinness World Record for most software downloads in 24 hours. I love the world map with the number of pledges by country for who is going to download Firefox 3.
Sometimes the best way to create attention for your self/business/product/ministry/etc is to create a buzz. It has to be tasteful and not over the top, but if done effectively, you will accomplish the desired effect.
So...I'm gonna download it. Are you?
We took a trip to Atlanta this past weekend for my cousin's wedding. I saw family I haven't seen in five or six years. It was really fun seeing how much everyone has changed and how their families have grown. To see my cousin six years younger get married was weird. To know that my cousin of 12 years younger is a sophomore in college is even weirder!!!!
So on Sunday we went to the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola with my parents and my brother and his family. Lots of fun. I am amazed at God's creation every time I see the beauty of animals/fish/etc and how they work and live. It's also a humbling reminder that we as mankind do a lousy job of caring for His creation. But that's another post...
I highly recommend visiting the Georgia Aquarium. You won't want to go to another aquarium after you go here. It'slike a Disney version. They even have their mascot, Deepo, who strangely looks like Nemo. Things that make you go hmmmm.
The World of Coca-Cola was fun as well. You get to taste like 60 different Coke products from around the world. All I have to say is Italians are messed up if they think Beverly tastes good. Um...YUCK! One of the nastiest things I've every tasted. But hey, some people out there like it, so I choose not to offend the "tasting-impaired".
Good times in ATL. Besides the 30 min detour throughout the city because we couldn't find I-20 at 7:30P, we had a blast!
5. I can look up phone numbers without having to use a phone book or call 411 and get charged a $1.25!
4. Texting is a breeze now. (Which means I can twitter even more!)
3. I can check my email any time I want.
2. I know have a day planner in the palm of my hand. Woohoo!
1. I only paid $70 on ebay for it. That's what I'm talking about.
Some of my peeps refer to it as a "crack-berry" and I understand why. It's highly addictive!
Well, every one else at TNC has blogged about Dunk'd, so instead of regurgitating what has already been said, go here, here, here, and here. I want to focus on my son, Austin, and his baptism.
What a proud moment for me and Laurie as we watched our oldest climb into the water, standing there with Gene, probably nervous as anything as 500+ watched on. Gene asked Austin what his declaration was and Austin replied "that Jesus is my Lord and my friend." Wow! Some of the sweetest words this dad has ever heard.
There is no experience like experiencing your child enter into a relationship with Jesus and then proclaim it publicly. All I can say is thank you God for allowing me to experience what You experience when one person enters into communion with You!
Well, the move is over, thanks to tons of help by some incredible people. Wednesday night we had some JTeam friends and one of my guitar students come help load up the truck. And then Thursday morning the staff came over to help unload! Wow is all I can say. And then this past weekend Laurie's parents were in town from Knoxville, TN, and they helped us get out of the boxes. That's very, very nice!
This afternoon at 4:30 we will officially close the book on the old house as we close. Can I say that I'm excited?
